Introducing the IDL Cultural & Historical Advisory Board
As IDL (International Dance League) builds a global professional platform for dance, we believe how dance is represented matters just as much as how it’s performed.
Many street and club dance forms developed in specific social and cultural contexts are often overlooked when these styles are presented at scale. With IDL operating globally, it requires that history, language, and context are treated with care.
To support this, we’re introducing the IDL Cultural & Historical Advisory Board.
Why This Board Exists
The board provides cultural and historical perspective on the dance styles represented in IDL, particularly those rooted in street and club dance culture. Its role is to help guide how dance is framed across IDL content, broadcasts, and educational initiatives, with accuracy and clarity.
This work is about getting things right from the start and building with informed input rather than retroactive correction.
