IDL Opens Applications for 2026 Community Division

IDL has opened applications for its 2026 Community Division, inviting dance teams from around the world to compete as part of the league’s upcoming global season.
The Community Division is the heart of IDL.
Every form of dance you see on a professional stage starts somewhere. Whether it begins in a studio or a parking lot with friends, every dancer starts with the same thing. A love for dance.
The community is where that love turns into commitment. Where teams and individuals support each other, grow together, and begin to imagine something bigger. Some of the world’s greatest dancers and choreographers started on community stages long before there was a professional platform built for them.
The IDL Community Division exists because of that reality. It's foundational to building a league that grows with the community. What we're building isn't only for the pros of today. It is for the pros of tomorrow. And the community is where that future begins.
The Community Division is a core part of IDL’s competition structure and includes both Junior (17 & under) and Adult (18+) divisions. Selected teams will compete live at IDL events alongside the professional division in New York City, Vancouver, Sydney, Seoul, and Los Angeles.
Each Community Division event will feature 10 Adult teams and 10 Junior teams, selected through a competitive application process. Teams are evaluated on performance quality, competition experience, and readiness for live events. Priority is given to teams local to each host city and country, with exceptional non-local teams considered based on competitive caliber.
2026 Community Division Application Timeline
- December 18, 2025: Applications open globally
- February 2, 2026: Applications close for New York City, Vancouver, and Sydney
- Week of February 9, 2026: Teams selected for NYC, Vancouver, and Sydney
- March 4, 2026: Applications close for Seoul and Los Angeles
- Week of March 11, 2026: Teams selected for Seoul and Los Angeles
